The Bangalore Police today on August 17, 2010 (Tuesday) arrested People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Abdul Nasser Madani in connection with his role in the 2008 blast in the city.Just as Madani was leaving his residence-cum-party headquarters to surrender at the court, a contingent of Karnataka and Kerala police arrived and took him into custody. The arrest comes after a warrant was issued by a local court against Abdul Nazir Madani. Madani is the key accused in the 2008 Bangalore serial bombings.
A Bangalore court June 15 issued an arrest warrant against Madani. The warrant has been extended four times and Tuesday was the last date for Karnataka Police to bring him before the court.

Media doyen and chief editor of Malayala Manorama daily, K M Mathew, affectionately known as ‘Mathukuttichayan’ among colleagues, passed away at his house in Kottayam district on Sunday morning. He was 93. He is survived by sons Mammen Mathew (editor), Philip Mathew (managing editor), Jacob Mathew (executive editor) and daughter Thankam Mammen. The funeral will take place at the Puthenpally church cemetery on Monday.
