As per sources Caroline Wozniacki defeated 2006 US Open champion Maria Sharapova in the fourth round match of the US Open on Monday, Sep 6. The 2009 US Open runner-up, Caroline Wozniacki, thrashed the Russian beauty Sharapova 6-3, 6-4 to cruise to the quarterfinals to meet Slovakia’s Dominika Cibulkova. Wozniacki kept on getting the ball back into play, forcing her opponent to make mistakes. Sharapova made nine double faults and hit 36 unforced errors. Though Sharapova struck double the number of Wozniacki’s winners, with 32 to 16, it was the errors that decided the result in the blue court in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
