As the name literally means, ‘Aashayein’ is all about ‘hopes’. The movie is something which everyone would like to relate with. But sooner you start relating to it, you tend to realize that the movie is lacking the deepest emotional touch.
Made in a contemporary style, Aashayein fails to leave impact. The movie has been made just keeping the commerciality in mind; the sensitivity quotient seems to lack. Nagesh Kukunoor, who is known for his forte to make realistic films, has somehow not given justice to his latest film.

The actors of the film though have managed to perform aptly, as their roles demanded. John Abraham, Sonal Sehgal and newcomer Anaitha Nair have played their respectively roles fairly.

John in particular seems to portray an honest performance and once again proves the notion wrong that the models cannot act. Sonal efforts are noticeable.

The music of the film is composed by the duo Salim – Sulaiman and Pritam, which scores a point, because as always, these music directors has given their audience fresh and refreshing music.

Aashayein, all in all is an average film that fails to stand out.
