As per sources Olympian gold winner Abhinav Bindra and World Champion Gagan Narang won first gold medal for India in the Pairs 10 m Air Rifle Mens event at the Commonwealth Games on Tuesday in the Commonwealth Games 2010 (CWG).
As per en.wikipedia.org Gagan Narang (Tamil: ககன் நரங்; b. May 6, 1983, Chennai) is an Indian shooter supported by Olympic Gold Quest.[1] He won the bronze medal in men's 10m air rifle at the 2010 ISSF World Shooting Championships. He won four Gold medals (Men's 10m Air Rifle, Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions, 10m Air Rifle (Pairs) and Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions (Pairs), the last two in partnership with Abhinav Bindra at 2006 Commonwealth Games. He contested in three events at the 2008 Summer Olympics, but failed to reach the finals in any.
The Abhinav Bindra and Gagan Narang pair bagged the first gold by shooting a total 1,193 points, breaking their own record of 1,189 points scored at Melbourne Games four years ago in the 10m air rifle pairs event. The pair of Gagan Narang and Abhinav Bindra scored 1193 out of 1200 at the Karni Singh shooting range in New Delhi. Narang shot 598 out of 600 while Bindra shot 595. Bindra scored 595 and Narang scored 498.
The women pair of Anisa Sayyed and Rahi Sarnobat won the top honours in the 25 metres pistol event to give the country its second gold, on the second day of the competitions. A total of 18 gold medals are to be decided during the day in swimming (5), shooting (4), cycling (3), wrestling (3), weightlifting (2) and artistic gymnastics (1).
